“The Independence Patch”

Donny is your typical teenager: he can’t admit that he hates the taste of both coffee and alcohol, prefers to read books in print even though the world has gone digital, and he hasn’t yet started the final paper that’s due tomorrow. He’s also an Integrate, waiting for his 18th birthday when he’ll be able to download the patch to his OS that’ll give him autonomy over the computer components that have been growing in his brain since conception. Adulthood, he’ll find, is far more complicated than any other upgrade.
